If these old walls could talk....how interesting the stories would be! Constructed as a Homestead shack in 1902 at Falkirk, west of Washburn, our home was moved into town in the 1940's. Several additions have resulted in a large, comfortable home where many interesting people have lived...a midwife, an author, school teachers and others! We'd love to share our home and hospitality with you.



Located on Highway 83 (37 miles north of the capital, Bismarck or 70 miles south of Minot) on the east bank of the Missouri River, Washburn is known as the "Grandest little city on the Missouri!" There are many things to do: Visit the beautiful Lewis and Clark Interpretive Center and tour Fort Mandan, a reproduction of the fort constructed by the Lewis and Clark Expedition for the winter they spent in North Dakota. The Missouri River provides many fun options... take a canoe cruise, go boating or try your luck at fishing. Walking or riding bike along the river bank are all ways to enjoy the natural beauty of the area. Lakes Sakakawea and Audubon provide some of the best fishing around. There is plentiful wildlife for the hunter or the shutterbug. Painted Woods Golf Course is just minutes away! Museums are less than a block away and the historic courthouse is within walking distance.



Come and stay in our "nest." Decorated in a relaxed country style, the decor of the house is birds and birdhouses representing our national and state birds and the Washburn High School mascot. Comfortable accommodations in antique surroundings in the three guestrooms: The Eagle's Nest, The Meadowlark Perch, or The Cardinal Room. Relax in your room or on the front porch...a perfect place to read a book or sip iced tea and just watch the world go by. You might enjoy watching the birds at the feeders or the bunnies and squirrels that play in the yard. Pamper yourself in the Bird Bath before bedtime... a full breakfast awaits you in the morning.
